KABEST Ensures Safety in Olympic Host City

September 27, 2011 ã.

KABEST, a member of Asteros Group, will deploy a video surveillance system and build an emergency control center for the Safe Sochi project. These projects are a part of the large-scale program to deploy a comprehensive information and analysis system to ensure public safety in the city. The new system will help emergency services to respond faster to emergencies and to improve quality of life for citizens and resort visitors.

The comprehensive Safe Sochi program launched by city administration is focused on improving public safety and prevents offenses in the city. This project is deployed in Sochi as a part of preparation for the 2014 Olympics supported by MegaFon telecommunications carrier.

KABEST, a member of Asteros Group, deploys a video surveillance system and creates a surveillance center for this project.

The first stage will include installation of 1400 video cameras on main streets and in popular leisure areas. High definition and embedded intelligence of video cameras will ensure detailed identification of remote objects and people's faces. Video cameras will feed the signal to the monitoring center in real time.

A 7 x 2.5 meter video wall made of high-definition LCD screens will be used to display information in the surveillance center. Operators will be able to monitor and identify emergencies and suspicious activities 24x7. They will pass the information on to city emergency response services as needed. A multi-petabyte archive attached to video servers will be used for long-term storage of video recordings and provide intelligent search capabilities.

"Safe Sochi is a unique project. A comprehensive information and analysis system will help reduce number of offenses dramatically and ensure safety of the main sites in the future Olympic host city. A similar program has already proved to be efficient in Moscow where number of offenses reduced by some 20%," – Nikolay Konkin, Chairman of the Board, KABEST.

"We will invest approximately 1.2 billion rubles in unique video surveillance system leveraging MegaFon network. It will help law enforcement agencies, emergency response services, Federal Security Service and Russian Emergency Ministry to respond faster, and will improve quality of life for citizens and resort visitors," – Tigran Pogosyan, Vice President of Strategic Projects, MegaFon.
